Commissioner Tarenia Carthan

Commissioner Tarenia Carthan is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Atlanta Christian College. She is a wife and mother of 4 beautiful girls and is the CEO of Elohim Consultants, an Information Technology Consulting firm established in 2005. Commissioner Carthan has served in the healthcare and technology sectors for over 20 years. Her dedication to excellence in technology may be seen in philanthropic work that includes co-founding Angels N Tech and Angels & Me Foundation to benefit young girls and encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics. In recognition of her work, Commissioner Carthan was recognized as an Outstanding Entrepreneur by Who’s Who in Black Atlanta in 2012.  

Commissioner Carthan serves her community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and weekly she serves Meals on Wheels as a volunteer with the Douglas Senior Services Division.  She also serves as the Past Immediate President of The Democratic Women’s Council of Douglas County and the former Chairman of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women’s Healthcare Committee; and is an Alumni of both Georgia WIN, and Douglas County Citizens Academy.

Commissioner Carthan values family, community, faith, and friendships. She was elected to serve as the District 3 Commissioner of Douglas County on November 6th 2018 and took office on January 1, 2019.
